I just saw one of these at a store, and thought it looked somewhat close to a T-LUD concept. Can anyone tell me if it looks like one could use it that way? Like your put your wood/carbon where the turkey is? Then cook with a cast iron pan on top (maybe set a little grill cross down first)? Or maybe make some other modification to it?

I don't think I would use it for charcoal making, but it seems to be an oil-less turkey fryer that doesn't need propane.

Agreed, a cool item. I would be concerned about how well it would hold up for making char though. The temperatures involved are much higher than the oven temperatures for cooking a buzzard over charcoal. At least they are in my setup. I'd hate to see an expensive mistake when freeish alternatives are available.
