Cozia shop has 3 pairs of merino wool socks on sale through Amazon for $5.99.  $2 a pair!  Woohoo!  I just got mine, so I don't know how well they hold up, but they have excellent fit, are very comfortable, and warm and dry.  I don't know how long the coupon lasts.  80% merino wool, 15% polyester, 4% nylon, 1% spandex

I'm not affiliated, just wanted to share this great deal with people here.  Here is the link:  Cozia shop sale

Sadly their large only goes to size 12, I think they would be a bit tight for size 16. I have a couple pairs of the Darn Tough brand, and there's serious variation in thickness/durability between them. One is like a thin dress sock and and is nearly threadbare at the heel while another is a much thicker weave, like triple the thickness and I can't see any wear or tear on those. The picture on that site looks thicker or at least "medium", so that is good.

I have about 30 pairs of Darn Tough socks  They do come in all different thicknesses, from super thin dress socks to really thick winter socks.

Send the threadbare ones back in, they'll send you new ones.  Lifetime warranty kicks butt.

Can you really tell me that we aren't dealing with suspicious baked goods? And then there is this tiny ad:
