Hey gang,

I've got a kitchenaid mill for grinding my own flour.  It works well, with the exception that it's loud, slow, and I can only do enough for a loaf, and then I've gotta let my machine cool off for an hour so I don't burn out the motor.  

If I ran the wheat berries through a blender first to do a rough grind before going into my flour mill, could that speed up the final milling process?  I'm trying to up my output, but I don't wanna sink money into a quality blender if this isn't going to net me any efficiency.

we use some similar to this one.

For a good quality hand crank mill you need to put a 300$ on the table but fun to do...

For the price of that blender, you can buy a hand crank flour mill.  They look similar to the old fashioned meat grinders though they are made especially for grinding flour.

Use the hand crank just like you were planning to use the blender:
