Hi everyone!

My first post here! I’m in the final stages of building a cob and cordwood roundhouse. The walls are non-structural, the structure is post and beam supporting a reciprocal roof. My problem is this: while I love the look of the interior walls the cob mortar holding in the incense cedar cordwood does get me a bit dusty if I brush against it. Not a huge deal except my clay is quite red and easily stains any fabric it gets on. I am thinking of applying some linseed oil to the interior mortar ONLY leaving the log ends and exterior mortar unfinished so they can breathe. Do you think this will cause moister accumulation problems in the walls? I should add that there are separate interior and exterior mortar courses with clay slip sawdust as insulation in between. House has large eaves and the round is sloped away on all sides. Located in inland northern CA, dry summers wet winters. Thanks!

Dylan, welcome to Permies! I don't have the answer to your question, but I think Permies is the place to ask.
