ticket to the rocket mass heater workshop

I have a ticket to a rocket mass heater workshop, very much like the workshop I captured here:

AND!  I have permission to give it to anyone I want!

So I've come up with an evil plot to pass the ticket on to somebody.  Anybody.  Maybe you.  Maybe not!  FEEL THE POWER!  BWA HA HA HA HA HA!

I have to say that I think that this eco-technology completely trumps all others.  This workshop blows your mind in how heat works.  With this new understanding, straw bale construction loses a lot of value.

Here's the particulars about getting this ticket:

      I have a little program that will collect all of the posts to this forum for a date range (I'll set that to today through August 12).  It will then mix them all up and show me five posts at random.  From those five, I'll pick out the best post!  The author of that post will be the glorious winner of my ticket!

      I'll run this little program on August 12th - or really close to August 12th.

      The more you post in this forum, the better your chances of getting the magic ticket!

      A "good post" is a post that asks a great question, or an answer to a question or even just an offering of some interesting information.  Posts that just say "thanks" or "hi" don't count as good posts.

Hi Rocket Mass Heater Dude!

I would LOVE to learn more about this cutting edge wood burner - and have the opportunity to get the word around (community marketing - word of mouth, and laptop) to the many who would be interested.

I recently spent about 6 hours in the premiere WoodStove Retail Store in Copenhagen . . . I learned plenty.  But, here is an opportunity to further my knowledge - and be able to share it responsibly!  (environmental factors included, of course)

Clarification:  By "this forum" are you talking about this topic/thread?  This subforum (alternative energy)?  Or any of your permaculture forums? 

(BTW, I'm not trolling for the ticket.  If I should somehow win I'd ask Paul to pick another winner, since as interested as I am, I doubt I'd be in the area to attend)

      I like enthusiastic people. You have just gone crazy about rocket stove functioning and before you were crazy about funguy mans six ways to save the world , in some ways for greens this is a fabulouse time i think it is like the beginging of the last century for and designing planes for machine enthusiasts.
  if you have enthusiastic people they at least try to get things off the road and they will criticise them. Unenthusiastic people, often wont at all even try with anything new, they wont even consider the possibilites that a thing could work as well as the contras. Not trying is just useless.

I'm talking about the "alternative energy" forum.

So permies.com has about 20 "forums", one is called "meaningless drivel" and another is called "alternative energy".

As for this thread:  I would say if I ran the little program and it came back with

post 1:  The L tube is useful for these situations ...
post 2:  This electric car will go 500 miles in a charge and can recharge in 10 min...
post 3:  I really want to win a ticket
post 4:  this new paint makes your house one big solar cell...
post 5:  when the air passes the middle of the tube, the colder air ...

I would have to say that post 3 is not gonna be my pick.

I'm farther south than that and, as much as I'd like to, it would be unlikely I could attend.  Since that's the case, please don't include me in the ticket competition.

Any chance of something similar in the future in the Lewis/Thurston/Cowlitz County areas?

I had to drive nine hours each way when I took the course. 

I get the impression that some folks will be willing to fly from across the country to take this. 

I have a hard time driving for very long and, unless I could be sure of someone else doing the driving, it's just not feasible for me at this time.

I'm sure it's well worth it.

Depending on your energy levels, you might like to...

1) Arrange a site, dates, materials, and advertising for a workshop in your area in 2010.

2) Carpool.  We're driving up late Thursday or early Friday from Portland, returning Sunday night.

There are often workshops in the Portland area, too, in case that's a shorter drive for you.

Think about it, and let us know.

So I ran my little program and it showed me five posts.

Two by erica, two by j_cornelissen and one that didn't qualify (it was from this thread - asking about some details about how this worked). 

So, j_cornelissen wins the ticket!

Due to a health emergency, we moved the venue for this workshop at the 11th hour. Despite this shake up, Ernie and Erica, the instructors; the new hosts, Jeni and Gordon, along with all the participants, pulled together a brand new plan that was executed with professionalism, warmth, humor and a boatload of learning!

We built a fantastic rocket stove mass heater to heat the soil in a solar greenhouse--wow! 

I just wanted to publicly thank each and everyone involved in this workshop for pulling together to make it a rousing success!
