Oenanthe javanica, aka water celery is the subject of an episode of "Trials to Oishii Tokyo" that I'm watching right now.  They are calling it Seri and are pronouncing it as "seti".  It is wonderful seeing how they grow it and how they cook with it.  If I find a link to this episode I'll post it.  If anyone beats me to it....thank you!!!

I've had water celery in my forest garden for more than a decade and have renewed interest in getting some into the kitchen after this show.  Very excited.  Seeing how it's grown in Japan has me thinking about experimenting more with growing conditions at my place too!

Check out this still shot from the episode....this is a 180 from the way mine are growing!  Mine are growing above the water line along the shore of a tiny frog pond that I hand dug.  I'll have to see if they have moved down into the water and if so try harvesting those to try and get those long shoots.  My above water plants do not grow like that.
