I might be able to get some mulberry and willow cuttings and take them home on a road trip. I'll need to get them on the evening of Sunday, July 2nd and won't likely be able to do anything with them at home until Tuesday the 4th when I finally wake up. 630 mile solo driver.

Any suggestions on how to transport? Damp paper towels or in water? Would it be a good idea to mix them together as willow helps with rooting? Would it be better to cut sooner rather than later?

Thank you very much!

Hey Kat.. I would say to take your cuttings as close to leaving as possible. Transport in water, and it is good that you already know about willow’s rooting hormone properties. You shouldn’t need a change of water in that short of a period, but it could be good to change the water when you get home.. unless you are planning to plant them right then?!? Best of luck in your endeavors, and safe travels!

Welcome to the forum!

I agree with what Ted has suggested.

A bucket with water could find a spot in your vehicle to hold the cutting until you get home.

Didn't make it all the way in one day. Giving them the last rays of sunshine and a little breathing room at the hotel.
