Crafting with Jewelweed Flowers

Hello! I'm so happy to have found Permies. I'm excited to learn more about crafting with plants!

Does anyone here have thoughts or ideas on how you could preserve Jewelweed flowers to use for crafts? I've searched and searched, and the only articles I've found about working with Jewelweed are related to its (amazing) properties as a remedy for Sister Ivy and other itches.

Ideally, I'd like to keep the shape of the flower heads instead of pressing them flat. I was thinking about stringing them up by the window and seeing if they dry well. Has anyone tried it before, or found other strategies that worked? I'd rather not waste the blooms on a strategy that's doomed for failure.

As a side note, I am just stunned that more people don't have cute little Jewelweed in their yards. The hummingbirds and bees love it, and the seed pods are endlessly entertaining.

I have never tried to preserve the flowers, but I wonder if you can dehydrate them by filling and covering them in silica gel powder.
