Hello! I go by Matt. I live with my partner and child at the tip of your ring finger, if you’re looking at the back of your left hand as a map of Michigan. We live on a hilly bit of beech-maple forest wherein we have gardens within the few small clearings. Zone 6ish due to lake effect

For 5 years we’ve slowly been shaping our homestead towards something resembling what our vision was when we set out. We’ve hosted many friends, about 2 dozen wwoofers, and couple workshops so far.

I’d like to glean as much as I can from these forums re: gardening, natural building, community building, and forest management

Peace!

Welcome to Permies Matt!

I am jealous of your ability to artistically paint a picture of where you live! I hope the lake effect isn't too too bad for where you live?

I'll see you in the threads

Hi Matt;
Welcome to Permies!
Out on the lake in northern lp.
I bet it can get a might chilly at times.
Do you have a Rocket Mass Heater?
Do you know what they are?
Pop on over to the RMH forum and read all about them.

The Lake Effect is Good! It’s an insulating effect from temperature extremes. Some curse it for the increased snow it brings,  but not in our house.
