I just saw that this book is is now available for free download at Building with Earth

This is not a pirated version. It is in compliance with Australian copyright law.

EDITED to fix link...it now should work. JP

soilandhealth.org expired on 05/03/2011 and is pending renewal or deletion.

Hopefully they will bring it back, that is a wonderful resource.

Oops! That was the request page that I linked to. My request had expired - not the library.

Go to http://www.soilandhealth.org/03sov/0302hsted/0302homested.html

It is the bottom book on the page.
Still there, available, and free.

Australian copyright law states that if a book is out of print, and no longer available through normal retail channels, the library may give you a digital copy of it for study purposes.

(I'll fix that link in the original post.)

no, it is actually the domain has expired:

"soilandhealth.org expired on 05/03/2013 and is pending renewal or deletion. "

Does anyone know how to contact them? I have donated to them in the past, and I would be willing to give them free domain registration, if they need it.

Looking at the Web Archive version of that page, "Australian libraries are allowed to provide clients with electronic copies of copyrighted materials for purposes of study only when it has been first determined that these materials are out of print and cannot be obtained through the usual channels of retail trade." On their Library Catalogue page, they indicate that the publisher stopped printing the book and they they made a reproduction by scanning a copy. I think that this still qualifies as a pirated version because you can still buy a copy directly from the author for £5: http://www.earthhandsandhouses.org/book.htm
