Too late for Fava Beans?

Having never eaten, let alone grown Fava beans before, is it too late in the season to direct sow them?  Everything I've read says they are cool season crops, & I didn't have my garden prepped in time.  Might have to save them for next year.

They usually go in the same time as peas, oats, or flax.

If you have a local seed company, they probably have a table of suggested planting times for some of the more usual crops.
