My KuneKune sow delivered 9 healthy babies yesterday.   She decided to deliver them a week early.  I had to rush to get her separated from the others.   And, of course, a storm was threatening. The farrowing pen still needed to be worked on, so I took the family to a different stall in the barn.  It seems to be working out.  Everyone is alive and active this AM.

Exciting times!

Are these pure Kunekune piglets? Is this your first time with piglets or do you have a system sorted?

I hope one day to raise pigs, for now I'll settle on appreciating other's letting me live vicariously through them.

Hi Timothy,

I have had Kunes for several years.  I have raised other breeds previously.   Kunes are much easier. Yes,  But they still take work. While they are well behaved regarding fencing, etc…..they can still be a headache.  For example, I have five corrals that I rotate the pigs in, but the boar decides which one he will live in.  He doesn’t mind being fenced in, but he decides which fence he is in.  Yes, he will walk through as many fences as he needs to in order to get to one he wants.

This is about the third …maybe 4 th….litter of Kunekunes I have dealt with.  Yes, they are pure.

I guess everyone has an angle. Fine, what do you want? Just know that you cannot have this tiny ad:
