Not what I expected.       The plastic clear container did far better than the burrito style air layering.     A good deal of roots.        I believe the branch I choose for the burrito style was a poor choice as it did not have any leaves...      As you can see there were zero roots formed  with the burrito method.     I used the soil I made with the BSF larva.       This is one month past the time I created the air layer.        So far 50%  success rate is good enough for me, and the number of roots is impressive to me.      I now know I can use the soil I created for making air layers, with more practice I should get faster at doing this.      Note the roots are very delicate, so when removing from package can be tedious, I broke a few of the roots getting them out.

Do you think the plastic container do better because of its ability to hold the moisture? I tried twice this year to air layer my lime tree but failed. The branches healed without growing any root as in your second picture. I will try using a container next time. Thanks for sharing.

I think the branch I choose that failed was because it did not have any leaves on it.

I also used rooting hormone on the one that worked,   I am using a toothbrush to spread it on before I add the dirt.

Other things I want to try is aloe,  and honey over the cut.....
