Name that plant: Primrose, mullein-like

I am positive this is mullein plant! its not as large leaves as I have seen on the web searching but its soft like it states they should be. It was rather small leaves. I have attached my photos

can someone tell me if on my photos i am correct? thank you so much!

cant quite tell from the first pic, but the seeds are definitely not mullein seeds.

how can you tell its not mullein seed when it came from the plant? if sorry you cant tell from the picture its huge in hieght like mullein here is a website from Canada websites i just found and it looks very simmiallar..

also if those are not mullein seeds then what are they?

well, the first thing I noticed about the seeds is that they look nothing like mullein seeds. shrug.

mullein seeds are small and hard and round and black. those arent. mullein seeds also arent in a capsule like you show. try a google search for mullein seeds.

plant ID is not as easy as finding a pic online that looks like what you have. lots of plants look very similar in certain phases of their lives. it is a lot easier to exclude something from an ID, than it is to identify it with certainty. hence my confidence that your seeds are not mullein seeds, though I dont really know what your plant is. sorry.

Mrs Wishinski, please just look at google images for mullein seeds and you will see that your picture of the seeds of your plant don't look like mullein seeds. At a quick glance the seed pod looks like iris, but the other pictures of your plant don't.

Works at a residential alternative high school in the Himalayas SECMOL.org . "Back home" is Cape Cod, E Coast USA.

Definitely not a mullein . It could be a member of the milkweed family .

I agree with Adam, Rebecca, and Wayne. I have a lot of both one and two year mullein growing on our property; your picture of the plant does not look like mullein and mullein seeds are not at all like your picture. If you could post some more close up pics of plants and flowers and growth at base, I am sure someone can point you in the right direction for an ID.

Reviving this, since I have been able to identify this plant with some confidence...

First off, I have found this plant in my yard in the past. Living in Quebec, and decided to let it grow for once this year, since I am working on a butterfly garden project. I figured weeds was the way to go, along with some non-native nectar rich Buddleia bushes. Anyway, this plant is totally a Mullein lookalike, as I was, like the original poster, convinced for some time that I was growing Verbascum Thapsus . Both are excessively similar. Long stalks, similar leaves, flowers both in form and color. Heights as well. But every posters here were correct, the seed pod is very different! By using the picture search on google, I found this...

Common Evening Primrose

If you scroll down to the illustration on your right, the seed pods are unmistakable. Gorgeous plant, I am totally going to harvest these next year, along with some Lobelia Cardinalis
