Hello Everyone,

Here is my third attempt at combinging these concepts. I have build this one bigger than the last two but I feel like I can still really make it much much larger next time.

I planted Black Sunflowers, Thyme, Marigold, Borage Garlic Chives, Bronze Fennel, Parsley, and Giant Pumpkins.

Very cool, It is great to see someone experimenting with sub-surface irrigation. If you have to irrigate, irrigate subsurface. My only suggestion is that your thyme might fair better in poor soil. It will produce more essential oils when grown in poor soil like most Mediterranean herbs. Hugelkulture I think -- and this is just the ramblings of a crazy man -- would be better suited to herbs like basil, chives, and mint. Very cool vertical Permaculture.

James Colbert : I do not want to steal this thread or even digress into a discussion of mint, just I don't think that the 'M' word should be used without clearly stating how
invasive mint is, and should be thinned viciously 'lest it take over' Big AL !

Thanks for commenting! This is my first thread and I am happy people are contributing.

I work on a ranch on Saturdays where one of the 'weeds' is mint. It sprouts up everywhere and there are areas where it has taken over. It is really easy to remove as long as its not flowering and covered with bees'. (Had to do that a few weeks ago)

I will update with more pictures later.
