for those just tuning in, dx5 ads are here:  https://permies.com/dx5

from my email

For those with experience advertising on Permies, how long does it usually take before you start seeing some interactions?

Usually about three minutes.

If you pay extra and set it to "extreme priority" you might run through all of your ads in a few days.

Unless of course, you limit it to just one country - and then that could slow it down to a month or two.  And if you limit it to one state in the US, that will slow it down.  And if you limit it to just one forum, that will slow it down.  If you limit it enough, it could take ten years to show your ads.

Do you have any tips for optimizing visibility or improving CTR?

The poetry that is in your ad makes the biggest difference.  And, it turns out, that I am not a poet.  I end up trying 20 different things, and then it turns out that one of the things i wrote does better than the others - so that is the poetry i use in the future.

I think that running an add slowly gets better CTR.  But there are also ads that i run where i am thinking "now now now!"  So I trade 100x impressions for half the CTR.

Is there a way I can see my DX5 in the forum? Just to see how it looks like

I guess I haven't tried to do that in a very long time.  But when I did try, I would load a thread and then refresh the page a dozen times and then there it was.

We have so many ads running now, that could be challenging.  I suppose if I were to give it a try today, i might edit the ad to be "extreme priority" and then look.  Once satisfied, I would edit it back.

What do you mean: I think that running an add slowly gets better CTR....? Is there a parameter for "solow ads"?

I find that ads i have placed that are set to "filler" do not show up very often, but their CTR is better.  Filler ads show up about one tenth the time that "standard" ads show up.

This seems can be done on a new ads, not on a running one. Thanks Paul

Hi Paul, I hope you're doing pretty well. We're analisyng the data of the ads and there's a huge difference between the data reported on google analitycs and permies platform. Any idea?

I have to confess that I rarely look at our GA anymore.  They "improved" it to the point that I struggle to find the information I am looking for.

But, sure, I'll give it a shot.  What are your current numbers for comparison.

Note that what I look at is "solo" on our stuff and "sessions" on GA.

I also note that a recent experiment with youtube had youtube saying they sent 1000 clicks our way, and our stuff says that we had a total of 90 page views from anywhere on the planet during that time, and GA said we had 11 sessions.  I hope that we will perform better than youtube!

Thanks Paul. We have noticed an interesting discrepancy in traffic data: according to Permies, our site is receiving hundreds of clicks, while Google Analytics and other analytics platforms report only a few dozen sessions.

Sounds about par.

Half of the humans are using ad blockers.  And then there are some bots involved (good bots and naughty bots).

I think the important thing is:  you spend $100 and do you get $100 worth (or more) of happy on the other end.

Wait for it ... wait .... wait .... NOW! Pafiffle! A perfect tiny ad!
