I will start............fig 'Chicago Hardy', Fig 'Brown Turkey', Kiwi 'Arctic Beauty'
Somehow I didn't see this
thread till now. Here are some "tropicals" that I have here in the Appalachians.
Owari Satsuma mandarin
trees (planted in ground inside
greenhouse)
Thomasville Citrangequat trees (Citrus japonica × Citrange)
Kumquat trees (Citrus japonica ,still juvenile, not in ground yet)
Japanese bitter orange (Citrus trifoliata)
Paw paw trees / Indiana banana (asimina triloba)
Cannas , various types
Japanese banana plants (musa bajoo)
Himalayan banana plants (musa sikkimensis)
Figs- celeste, brown turkey, an unknown type
Kiwi vines (not really tropical, but still nice)
Jelly palm trees (butia capitata)
Pomegranates (again, not really tropical, but still somewhat exotic)
Bamboo, various types
Pineapple guava ( feijoa sellowiana - edible flowers and fruit)
Tea (camellia sinensis)
That's the ones I can think of off the top of my head, most of these above are under 4 years of age as I only moved into this house around 4 years ago.
