I recently Found this mushroom growing the bottom of a peach tree in an irrigated lot. I live in Tempe Arizona, and I have not seen the like to date, not that I have been into mushrooms, and on the lookout, for long. definitely an inch or more thick where it attaches to the tree.
This one is a not centered picture of the underside. Sorry its not the most clear picture but i think it gets the point across.
I am terrible with my fungus IDing... But... Not only does that look like a species of Ganoderma; it looks VERY much like Reishi!
The upper conks are probably last years growth. Maybe this Springs? That lower emerging conk is fresh growth. The outer white ring is the active growth portion.
might also want to look at the Fomitopsis family of fungus. Pinicola (red-belted polypore) grows in your area and grows on over 100 host species of trees. Maybe also fomes fomentarius.

Good thinking... However; I'm pretty sure it is not the red belted polypore. Conk shape and color seems wrong. Furthermore; it is a perennial mushroom, and I don't see fresh growth on any but the one.
