We started some under our raspberry plants and had. Allot a nice mushrooms 5-6 weeks later. Now aug 2, we return to find a whole new invasion of them. They're not as filled out as the first batch, most of the caps are more than than burgundy, and some are totally black . I wondering if that's a bad thing.
Welcome James! Wine caps taste best when harvested while still young, before the spores can turn the cap a dark color. When my winecaps got that old, I would use the old mushrooms to start new patches by making spore emulsion from them and then dumping it onto new wood chip beds.
