So I've had Goats in weedy a potato patch many times for several hours at a time and they've shown no interest in the potato plants, but plenty of interest in the weeds around them.

Could be a good technique for weeding and fertilizing a potato field.

My potatoes are open to deer and rabbits who have eaten weeds. A short cover crop of something tasty, could encourage grazing.

My potatoes were killed by (I presume) deer. As soon as they came up it was one bite to get it back to ground level. As they tried to come back up, the same happened till there were none.

based on this I wonder if the crop needs a head start before putting goats on them?
