They often are John only held by gravity, in many architectural cultures that use them from around the Mediterranean, Middle East, and Asia. In and of itself an acceptable and viable practice and method for "setting" stone and clay tile roofs. Yet, as you can see from the little video, not when used in concert with other "not so good," building practices and/or out of context to the norm...
