'Introduction'? Hmm, well, let's see, here..

Currently nursing a shredded Heart... +_+ Finding much solace walking in the Woods, digging in the Dirt (of course), and deep breathing of early-am Air - with a side of Stargazing at Night. Won't 'Give Up on Love', though - this 'Flat Tire' isn't Love's Fault (it's the shortsighted Gal who didn't Use its' Fault..) This pretty much Nails the Current situ:

..Ah well.. Must Move On..



Proud Papa of 3 Amazing Young-Adult Children, Former EMT-B (NYS) avid Fly-Fisherman / Hiker / Rock-Climber / Past Surfer (before the body broke) Finish Carpenter, Kitchens & Baths / Remo (decades ago) Illustrator / Designer, and essentially now, a Mechanical / Electronics 'Engineer'. and also work with / Service Medical, Industrial, & Entertainment Lasers (going on 20+ yrs, now).

Small Chunk of Wonderfully-Wooded Land-Owner, still working on the Dream of Crafting my Own Strawbale House / Small Raised-Bed and 'Hugelkultur' Gardens, etc, etc, all drawing on Principles my Son is teaching me from his Bill Mollison courses / Own Permie-efforts at His / DIL's place.

Here to Learn, Grow, and Be Humbled. Hope I can add Some Value along the way. (besides 'Meme's

Yeah, 'on the surface', Some of the skill-sets gleaned from my 40+ yrs of working (I was working while still in HS  with my Hands may not seem 'applicable' to Permaculture-Life / Homesteading (ie: what does fixing Lasers have to to with 'Hugelkultur'?? but..

..If you Look Past that 'Book Cover'... it's the 'Ancillary Skills' that translate.. ie: Welding / Fabrication / Machining parts, Electrical / Electronics design / repair, Small-fittings / Closed-Loop system Water-cooling, Wiring-harnesses / Panels, etc, etc.. All 'cross-pollinate' well to Building / Maintaining a Homestead: Solar systems + controls; Pumps / Irrigation + controls; Home-Electrical / Electronics maintenance (withOut having to 'call in a Repairman' for every single thing, etc); Heavy Machinery / Diesel Vehicles maintenance, and so on.

..And, of course, all the 'Obviously-applicable Skill-sets' (Carpentry / Hunting / Fishing / Hiking / Camping/Bushcraft, etc, etc) rank / serve as well, but.. Am Very much in the 'Insatiable Learner' stage, and Enjoying the 'Journey' - Especially watching my Firstborn Son 'blossom' from - basically 'Shaggy' (from Scooby Doo - hardcore drugs / hippied-out / basically 'driftwood', as-to Responsibility / Stewardship of the Land etc..) into a Fine Young 'Mountain Man' / Father and Craftsman, himself..

ie: His 'latest carve'...

There are a few 'insatiable leaners' (and do-ers) here, you may find this thread amusing!

That spoon is amazing! - it reminds me of Welsh courting spoons - was that intentional? The design is definitely Celtic.

Mmm, he May have taken Some 'hints' from the Celtic-designs / spoons, but That one is definitely more a distinctly 'Nordic-nod'... (Son ran us up in one of those 'Family Tree' / lineage sites one time, and, while we're Primarily of Scottish (and, Italian on Mothers' side) descent, apparently, way-way Way back - we were 'intermixed with Vikings', so.. So, he tends to be rather fascinated with Norse-inspired 'flavors' / designs, ie: Here's some Other-past carvings of his:


(that's a "salt shaker" - hollowed-out / dispensing-holes, back-side the Head, there..)  He's also Quite the phenom with 'wire-wraps' and hand-crafted 'satchels' and what-not, ie:


 ..He - May - have 'taken a clue' from his Old Man...



..so, Yah.. We're all kind of 'Doers of Many Things'.. Which seems kind of a 'Mandatory Prerequisite' for Successful Homesteading and Permaculture... Ya've Got to be Able to 'Adapt to Thrive', really.. I don't see most 'Permies' being successful 'by accident' or passive, random effort... There's Focused / Seasoned Knowledge and Wisdom involved.. And how to Properly Use it..
