Hey there. My name is Coty Sorby. I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan near the big lake and about 20 minutes from the biggest little city up here, Marquette. I am in zone 5b, but just so, sandwiched between the ancient Huron Mountains (more like 1,000 foot bedrock hills) and Lake Superior. We have the most incredible summers and long snowy winters of 150-300 inches of snow-filled adventuring.

I am endearing, courageous, ardent, loyal, humorous, hard-working, intuitive and live with a willingness to do hard things and build with delayed gratification towards my goals. I have no children and spend my days building community in a small town at the end of the world with dear friends. I have an eccentric house, an outdoor sauna that burns many days with friends in my .5 acre property. I bought the house next door last year that brought me another acre and a house in need of a total remodel But I planted 100 trees and shrubs last year and am doing the same next month.

My house is filled with plants. As is the garage. It's pretty much just plants, dog toys, and many ways to play music loud and sing karaoke...

Importantly, I have assets, some money saved, and live buying what I want (food and more plants mostly), not a lot, but enough. Would be great to have a contributing partner, but could support the right person to start a family as well. I work for my local government managing our parks trails and water system as well. There are many thousands of acres between my house and the next meaningful human settlement. I get to spend my time here and in the trails that lead to that wilderness. I also am a massage therapist and do bodywork as well. I am a very keen person, but my 5 year old golden retriever Selma thinks I'm alright for a Leo.

I want to build a garden of eden and I'm well on my way. I also want to build resiliency in my community and conspire to create amazing community space, four-season greenhouses, and much more. I have a beautiful, amazing, smorgasbord of friends. Just looking for the one out there that fits my weird puzzle piece.

You have written one of the more genuine and memorable introductions I have seen here. It feels like a real person speaking, not a template. Your mix of hard work, humor, community focus, and long term vision is attractive because it shows substance.

What stands out most is that you are already building the life many people only talk about. Planting trees, restoring property, caring about local community, and creating welcoming spaces says a lot about character.

One thing that may help you attract an even better match is adding a little more detail about the partner side of the equation. For example, what daily life together could look like, what values matter most, whether relocation is important, and what kind of family future you imagine.

Hello Coty, I tried to PM you but for some reason there’s no option for that with your name. Your message resonates. 40f in Indiana currently doing van life but loving the idea of growing food and community. Your photos feel quite lovely.

I’m honestly just seeking a friend, but I feel like you’d be a good one based on my knowledge. I
didn’t mean to spy on you and found this
quite by accident. I hope you’ll be curious enough to reach out but Wish you well, regardless.
