Hi All,

I plan to make a concoction to help a friend who suffers chronic discomfort from osteoarthritis in her foot.

Following some ideas gleaned from Dr Tilger, I want to make something including turmeric and black pepper to help with inflammation, alongside a willow bark tincture for the pain.  As such, can anyone recommend the best way to extract goodness from turmeric and black pepper?

I'm also thinking internal consumption is more practical, although maybe overnight topical application would be more effective?

Any thoughts much appreciated!

Cheers,

-- Jojo

I've heard that turmeric is best used with oils and that black pepper should not be cooked. Not sure if that helps much!

Hi Nancy -- thanks for this!

Yes, that's helpful, and all the more so since I'm consciously starting to add black pepper to my food: I'll add it after the fact from now on!  Also, an oil extraction was my first thought, so I'll go with that. This also leaves the possibility of turning part of the extraction into a salve, so I could just go belt-and-braces.  Why not?
