I saw this plant growing down by the water at the lake last weekend.
Google couldn't figure out "plant with tentacle-like flower stems"...
Location: Amity Campgrounds, Site 48, at West Point Lake near LaGrange, GA.

the term for the "tenticle" is panicle
I did a quick google search for purple flower panicle but nothing came up to match
good luck on your search

I have absolutely no clue what your plant is there, but it's really awesome to find another permie close by. I'm just over in Pine Mountain.

Actually, I live in Appling County near Savannah but we go camping at West Point fairly often.

I FOUND IT!

It's called the Scorpion's Tail (Heliotropium angiospermum).

They're supposed to be good for drawing in certain kinds of butterflies.
