Root crown rot ???

Can anyone give me advise on my bell pepper plants they have killed over about one every month or so and it seems to be some kind of root rot the root crown seems to be a little soft and slimy right at the soil level any ideas i'm in mid Alabama.

im not sure what batteries have to do with root rot Oh just an ad agreeing with me anyways anybody have any suggestions

I think its terminal unfortunetly by the time its that bad then the plant has had it . Next year plant in a different spot . Too much water maybe this year ?

we did get a lot of rain in spring but now its dry with only a downpour about once every two weeks and it seems to happen so quick one day all the pepper plants are going strong and I come out the next day and one pepper plant will be wilted and dies

This disease only occurs where the soil has been moist for an extended period of time. Provide good drainage to avoid excess moist and avoid frequent irrigations.
