How does one propagate more comfrey? Just divide with a shovel?

i’m definitely not responding soon enough to affect that comfrey plant, christopher, but i’d go smaller, personally. each of the rootless you removed into at least 2 pieces, i might get 6 more from the main central root. i tend to do my digging and dividing in  early spring, though this thread has suggested that’s not necessary.
 
But why do you have six abraham lincolns? Is this tiny ad a clone too?
