I Think that all regular newsprint is made with soy based ink these days, mostly to make recycling paper products that much easier!
I do not think that toxic inks are a problem any more, however lets the our Fellow Members weigh in here ! The slick back magazines are a totally different
thing entirely with the clay and rag content and the staples that have to be removed !there is of course the use of chlorine in paper making to bleach the
wood fibers ! So Kind of a mixed bag ! Butchers paper must be food grade, is traditionally brown, unbleached(?), and heavy weight might work as long the
color scheme was unimportant ! For the good of the Crafts! Big AL
