Any perennials that die off in spring?

I'm trying to think of something good to grow in a smallish space next to some comfrey (& a mandarin), so that there is something green there throughout the year. Are there any plants that grow over autumn/winter & die down in spring?!

Chickweed! It is technically an annual but reseeds like crazy, edible and medicinal and very green all winter unless you have very very cold winters. here is a link to a thread about it https://permies.com/t/21501/plants/Chickweed-Stellaria-media-winter-green#298288 I let mine die back in place and it provides a bit of mulch also. It is our winter green drink.

Thanks for the suggestion...though I guess I should have said I'm looking for something a bit more substantial than a groundcover, like 50cm high & wide or close to. I'll put some groundcovery plants in too, I have chickweed already (hasn't exactly died down yet though, & summer is technically almost here!), cleavers, clovers & yarrows in abundance.
