Culticycle at Farmhack

I was surprised when a search here did not turn up either the culticycle or farmhack.
The culticycle is an ongoing opensource project developing pedal powered small scale tractors.

Seems to me like something very much in keeping with lots of permaculture concepts.

That's cool. I have considered building a mowing attachment to tow behind a bicycle, but this thing goes all the way. One thing I wonder about is the angle of that seat, it is so nosed down how is he sitting on that thing without sliding off?

There seem to be quite a number of different implementations of the idea. The very first one over at farmhack looks, to me, very ricketty and thrown together. Some other versions look to be much more refined.

I found one explanation of why they were not using a recumbent bike set up, which explanation really did not make sense to me, and then found an example of one with a recumbent set up - but it did not look to my eye like a very good implementation

In my copious spare time I should put one together the way I think it ought to work

And then find out if I am nearly as smart as I think i am!
