I have setup Rain Water Harvesting System at my home few weeks back and I just want to clear my few queries on it.Is the rain water safe to drink?Does it require a lot of maintenance?Eagerly waiting for the responses.
Thanks!!
Rain water is the purest form of water but be careful that you collect the water in clean vessel and don't collect the water from first rains as it contains lots of mixed acids and other toxic solutions.
Initially rain water was considered to be the purest source of water but now, there are many acid rains making them the dangerous source of water So, they are potable used for other purposes in household or watering plants.
I read an article in Times of India which was about "Orissa plans rooftop rainwater harvesting in urban areas".So,Its a great initiation taken by the Goverment of Odisha because in the coming days it would have been really difficult to meet the increasing demand of water in urban and semi-urban areas. It will be more appreciable if all the apartment owners will take an initiative in setting up an rain water harvesting system in there building. But what will be the installation and maintainence cost?
Ya that is true even i saw same news in ndtv the government of Karnataka announced rain water harvesting must and should for every apartments because of water scarcity in Bangalore. We should create awareness among ourselves so that we can take it forward asap.
