Just outside of the town near where I live 5 new houses have been built. Today I went past and all the big gum trees that were growing along the verge have been chopped down and stumps removed. they weren't encroaching on the property's. What thell is wrong with people? Most of the land has been cleared for farming in my area. It's not like these trees were in the way.

God it makes me angry!

I know, it's like a bare earth policy aimed at future generations, with no other rational than "Start from scatch and fix things piecemeal afterwards, if we have to." Unfortunately, this process also seems to be internationally universal, unless someone shouts really loud and just keeps on shouting.

Suburban Clear Cutting, where housing developers come in, slice off all living things and pour concrete and lay down asphalt in the name of progress. Never mind that the new houses will use more energy than if they had built carefully and left some trees to shade the new buildings.
