just wanted to share a
video about the waterwheel I built on my creek. It was the system I thought was best after much surveying of the
land and creek, observing the
water level over the seasons and considering many other technologies. There isn't
enough head to run a turbine setup and with our cold winters (freezing up the creek for a couple months a year) and debris that comes down the creek (plugging up jets for a turbine setup) an old school style backshot waterwheel seemed like the best choice. It allows for debris and fish to pass over the wheel without damaging the equipment or injuring the animals. There is no big diversion setup or screens needed (which need tending too regularly) and the power produced is enough to run the house from. Check out the video I shot from last summer. This summer we are hooking it up to our batteries and a larger inverter inside the house. Enjoy!
Cheers!
