I just picked up some "20 mule team" Borax detergent at 4 pounds for $4 dollars. I've read it is an anti-fungi but am wondering for what spores and building materials? I read it is used in cellulose insulation and as a wood preservative? I'm wondering what mix with water? 10:1? 20:1? I wonder how effective it is at stopping fungi growth for all building materials? Of course I know it is best to not use fungi food building materials and that is why we keep moisture away, and temp, but I wonder how effective this would be as a redundant effort to protect our builds and health? Sure is cheap and easy to spray as we go.

Guess I'll run some test on different materials just to see how well it sticks, and some fire test on straw. Just for kicks and grins.

I have had positive results with 20:1 solution and just "broadcasting" the powder on log joist before sub-floor goes down. There is all types of stuff on the internet about it as you have probably found. Alone it has a long history of use, and working in concert with other natural insecticides and fungicides it is probably even better.
If you are using a wood chipper, you are doing it wrong. Even on this tiny ad:
