Hi All,

I found this site not long ago. i have scoured over the pages of information.
So much good stuff here.

I have been at a rented home with a small grove of olives. Reduced rent if I take care of the gardens and orchard.
My uncle has the hectare next to this and I have free will there. So I plan to experiment for the growing season.
This seems to be a difficult climate with the warm dry summers but there are many here who do more than I can image
with a lot less than I have.

Thanks for all the share info here. I will make the most of this resource. And maybe I'll even be able to repay to this site
with some experiences that can assist someone else.

Sure. Photos it is.

The photos will show barren soil. The fire season here is brutal. Then local government will fine people if they do not rid themselves of fire hazards. In the spring the lush grasses cover most of the area under the trees but as summer comes it all turns brown. Common practice is to till it under.
I'd like to address this but i'm not sure how to approach it. I really don't like the idea of leaving the soil bare and again it is not my property. I'd like to find a happy medium.

These are photos of the hectare that I have to use next door. It is a sloped piece but not that difficult to manoeuvre.
There is some irrigation for the various citrus. There is a mix of the citrus, carob, olive, fig, date, almond and pistachio.
An area of about 300 sq. meters for a garden.
A small pool of water is at the bottom of the property fed by a spring. This is what makes this parcel a diamond in the rough.

Welcome to Permies, James. It is very serendipitous that I am looking at permies today as my Bride and I will be going to Catania for three weeks starting tomorrow. I will be working for my job and she will be enjoying the Mediterranean air and sun. Purple Mooseage me if you would like some visitors willing to help for a day during a weekend between now and the 12th of June.
