Cob builder volunteers SE Oklahoma, NE Texas?

Hi everyone,

We're building a cob home in Calera, OK, and are looking for volunteers to help us out. We're clearing the site now (in between storms and tornadoes), and the weather for June is supposed to be dry and sunny (FINALLY!). If anyone can help, please email me at krystyunderwood@gmail.com. Krys, I'm stuck too close to home this summer to come help you, even though I'd love to see a cob project in progress. But the dry hot weather is finally here, I hope your project is leaping forward now!

Well, not leaping yet, but definitely slogging....the mud's almost dry, and we've got a little more done on clearing the site. Today's our 10th wedding anniversary, so we're heading out of town for a mini second honeymoon, and when we get back I plan on spending a lot more time in the dirt!

hay guys we are in sapulpa right outside of tulsa,and are''starting"" our first cob project.the girls thought the oven would be a good start,because its small{i think they have over looked the dome works].any how keep your post updated and let us know how its going,and we may be able to share ideas and what nots.being neighbors and all,clara is out by grand lake? mongo

Calera, not Clara! We're about 5 hours away from you guys, I think. Of course, in the South, that's "neighbors", right?

So far we're in a rut on getting the foundation dug. We've had high heat advisories every day for the past week or two, so we're trying to get an excavator to get the place dug out faster without suffering from heat stroke. These 100 degree days are just too hot!

thats oklahoma for you heheheh,we have a couple that have moved just west of antlers,they started to live off grid''cold turkey'' they baught the place this spring and are working the land as they live on it .they might be willing to share time,for knowledge .or even help finding resource in that area.i grew up in rattan,but aint been there in a while.still know the area has more rocks than clay............

Just saw this topic today. I am in the Dallas area. It's been a while since you posted an update and I am wondering how it's going. I have been wanting to get some hands-on cob experience. Is your project continuing in 2016?

Does anyone know of any cob builders interested in a oklahoma project? It would need to be economical. I would love to hear from experienced builders. Thanks

What do you mean by being,'economical'?

I'm trying to get an idea of costs. Any estimates would be greatly appreciated. I want a small 2 bedroom cobb house.
