There are definitely cob builders and buildings around the wet coast; mud girls(
https://mudgirls.wordpress.com/) are the first that come to mind. I have no personal
experience with it quite yet, but as I understand from reading and discussion, the
local issues are:
1) You may not be able to build in the winter, or at least not quickly, because it dries slowly. Some techniques claim to work year round.
2) You need nice big roof overhangs, a 'good hat'.
3) You need to make sure the bottom of the cob is safe from
water; 'good
boots'. Good drainage, and generally a 2ft raised stone foundation-wall, or similar. You're not just protecting against blown rain, but against splash from roof runoff.
4) The wall
should be plastered to add further water resistance.
As far as I know, those are the main things of particular note when it comes to using cob in this climate; hopefully someone with some hands-on experience will chime in to confirm/contradict/expand.
