Getting ready to build a unit with a 35 gallon barrel. Would also like to incorporate a copper tube spiral to heat water with or without a pump. Would this copper heat exchanger go on the output of the barrel or can it be part of the insulated riser in the middle. I didn't search previous posts, shame on me, but time to get moving on this project.

Patrick McGillan : A late welcome to Permies.com and sister site richsoil.com. And a Big Welcome to the Rocket And Wood Stoves Forum Threads !

At the top right of the page is the Permies Toolbox ! Find and click on the Search Feature then at the next page enter " Boom Squish " in the Search field.

Then go down to the second box and click on the rocket stoves !

Then scroll down to the bottom of the search page, select a google search within Permies.com and click on Search !

I am sure that you are serious about starting this project and you have come to the right place ! However you need to be aware of the seriousness of what you propose.

Building a regular 6'' - 8'' Rocket Mass Heater RMH is a good 1st step- your plan is only possible to do safely if you have background in this area or are willing to school

yourself on its problems and pitfalls . This is not about paying dues, all rocketeers have started where you are now, this is a Safety issue !

For the Good of the Crafts ! Big AL

OK, I got it. Wowser it even has its own catch phrase "Boom Squish"

Anyways this will be my third rocket stove, but first rocket mass stove. Already planning on a 4 ft bench with exhaust in it. If I go with a horizontal tube coil, then will have to tun a small pump any time temp at coil input is above certain temp. That might be OK as the whole thing is to be solar powered.
