I have a Cuban friend who is looking for someone to build some rubble stone retaining walls (these are not dry stone walls but rather loose stone walls so absolutely no wall building experience/skill is needed) for him on a hillside behind his house outside of Santiago and then start to fill behind these walls with local plant material. In exchange you would live on the property and have free room and board for the length of the project. The house on the property has a caretaker couple who would do your cooking and laundry so you wouldn't have to worry about food.

The project would be for one month. It's a small project that is the beginning of a larger effort to build soil (goats have denuded the soil and the sun, wind, and rain have destroyed what is left) and grow vegetables.

Your cost would be the cost of return Cubana Air tickets from Toronto to Santiago. We have a travel agent in Toronto that has Cuban travel experience and would do all the travel arrangements for you.

Requirements:

Male
No Americans (the situation is still too complicated)
Be able to travel to Toronto for interview(s).
PDC course by a certified teacher. No applied permaculture experience needed although it would be a huge plus.
Preferably fluent in Spanish.

Anyone interested should email the address in my profile for more details. I will not respond in this thread so there is no point in asking any questions here.

To clarify the subject header, it does not have to be a pair who know each other. It could be two individuals applying separately. And the male requirement isn't necessary although this is a physical job that requires stamina and upper body strength. (The house has two separate bedrooms so a man and woman who are not a couple would not be a problem.) The PDC course is mandatory so please don't apply if you don't have one.
