OK, recovering the larger machine from the hole is interesting on it's own, but I've never seen a bucket/grabber like on the smaller machine. (I don't get out a lot... )
Anyone have a name for that?

Looks like a mini articulating excavator with a tilt bucket. Sometimes the tilt bucket is called an angle bucket.

Awesome for cutting swales. Whenever I see Geoff Lawton on a work site there's a tilt bucket excavator of some size in the background. It's a pretty standard go to for earth works being that they are so movable and capable of cutting smooth odd angles on slopes. So yeah

It's a pity there's no video of that 20-ton Volvo going down for the third and final time in that merciless hell-pit of liquid clay. Even across the language barrier, the operator's swearing is sure to have been impressive!
