So I read this thread a while back https://permies.com/t/31794/desert/Desert-Corn-Growing-Techniques
Instead of using corn I buried some loquats (whole fruit not just the seed) 18" deep.

Today I found 7 seedlings, and they weren't there a few days ago. My Christmas present from Mother Nature.

I'll look up the timing of when I planted them, but from memory it was March or April this year.

Only for a few weeks. i think they would have survived with more water but i was really pushing the edge on how drought tolerant they might be.

I've since grown others from seed successfully with deep seeding, but being more generous with water.
