Older basil leaves get tough and the flavor changes a lot. I've used up and pesto'd the good stuff.  Now I've got lots of basil that's over the hill but still green. Is there a way to use this or should I compost it?

My old basil tends to not taste so good, so I simply feed it to my rabbits.

I let "spent" plants go to seed.  


Yeah, my basil is flowering now, and there are many kinds of pollinators working it.
Let the pollinators turn it into a self seeding annual.
Wonderful to watch...even better for next spring.
