Just watched this video about a ~280 sq. ft. earth-bermed house in WA.  This off-grid abode is quite beautiful (inspired by hobbits) but there seems to be no mention of permaculture, Mike Oehler, thermal inertia, etc.  How could this design have been improved?

Thanks for posting this.  Some really cool ideas that she presents in her project.

Probably could be improved with more insulation in the ceiling/roof and more glazing as she mentions she plans in future builds.  The door is visibly not sealed, so I doubt it's really warm in a blizzard unless she's blasting that propane fireplace.  Propane?  Definitely a great place for an RMH, so there's an improvement that could definitely be made.  She mentions a upcoming communal kitchen, so that sort of explains why this first build didn't have one, and this is a super cozy looking little hole house, but no kitchen to speak of?-what's up with that?-and a hobbit space without a larder/pantry/root cellar/wine cellar?------What?  ha ha.
