These piglets are fenceless since birth.
Their mother was raised here since 8 weeks and they are vigorous foragers already at 8 days. The 2 AGH/KK sows and our full KuneKune boar have been rotated under mixed
canopy for almost 2 years.
Our sister sow is very due now so we're expanding from 3 to >20 in a short period and winter rains are setting in. We'll start MIRGing the older litter with their momma in a few weeks to mitigate mud/compaction and get the piglets trained on portable fencing.
We're noticing quite a difference in the piglets instinctual browsing; some more, some less. Now at 2 weeks they are eating grass, blackberry, dandelion, etc.
We're still supplementing
feed with sprouted barley, organic farm veg glean, and a few
local restaurant scraps.
