Help!!! Just went into my greenhouse and their are termites everywhere...crawling out of the soil..Since I have food stuff growing, and are getting ready to plant more, what can i/ should I do??
Hi firstly I would not panic . Are you sure these are termites or are they ants . There is a big difference . Termites eat wood and and ants don't Secondly what plants have you got ? Have the plants got greenfly / black fly ?
Thirdly what is the greenhouse made from ?

Hi Pennie- I myself would dust the soil with diatomaceous earth, that will kill the termites that come in contact with the DE, not immediately, but soon thereafter. It is unlikely however to get to the queen and cause a colony collapse.

Yes, for sure they are termites! There are wood frames in the greehhouse...they may be going after that. The greenhouse is metal, with a plastic liner...right now there are various greens in there. Going to transplant tomatoes, peppers and eggplants in there this week. I've read that orange oil, neem or borates can be used to treat. Not sure if i want to use that in my greenhouse...Diatomaceous earth is a good idea....
