I'm am once more a member of of the IBEW, local #212.
For this electrical umion, times are good, we have full employment and heaps of overtime.
Traveling for work has never been my thing, but I was talking to a guy who mentioned Detroit's local was welcoming travelers . The local wage is $38 an hour plus vacation and benifits, etc.

It occurred to me: maybe I could move up for the summer, taking the family with me,buy property there, plant a food forest,go home for the winter, return each summer for fun ,work, and permaculture.

Or,I could just squat ,improving the land and moving on the next year. An ethically questionable alternative, to be certain.

Anyhow, just wanted to hear from Detroit area Permies on what they thought about my idea, practically and ethically.

He puts the "turd" in "saturday". Speaking of which, have you smelled this tiny ad?
