I want to know more about goat's rue, since I grow it.
I read a lot about this herb in the internet and its main uses are for diabetes and for increasing milk production.
There is something weird in the literature: On pages mentioning that herb for increaseing milk production it is never mentioned as poisonous, the most I could find was that you stop it after six weeks and after a break of six weeks you can begin once again.
But the pages about diabetes mention that it is too toxic to take. That seems very contradictory to me. The diabetes pages don't make a very clear distincition between the drugs synthesized from the plant and the plant itself. Does anyone know more?

after reading up on this herb/plant.
it seams that humans should not take while pregnant but ok for after to help milk.
also it would seem when it comes to diabetes one should be careful since there is more than one type of this condition.
as for toxic I only found this:

Goat’s rue is toxic to ruminates, especially sheep.  Livestock and wildlife losses could be expected to increase especially during dry years if animals graze in infested areas.

I would think it could be toxic to humans as well if taken in to large of doses. or for to long. hence the 6 weeks on and 6 weeks off.

Great post - I did not know about goats rue until I saw this post so I had to look it up.  Apparently it is used for a lot of things besides breastfeeding.  I have included a link that I found informative - for those, like me, who are just learning about this herb.

I also would like to know more about toxicity before I would consider using it - but it is now on my list to add to my medicinal plant collection.

I did not come back to this herb, but it is totally funny how a herb is safe for increasing milk but unsafe for diabetics. Who would assume pharmaceutical interests ??
