Recently received my final order of fruit trees, 90 apple trees and 5 pear. I would like to start planting them but in Ireland their is an unusually cold spell of weather coming down from Russia. Temps could get down to -6/7 for a few consecutive nights, but it shouldn't last too long maybe 3/4 days.
Would my bare root apple trees be ok once properly planted? Or should I just wait untill.next week?
Hi Jay, you can plant them as soon as you can turn the ground. My suggestion is to water them in well and put a nice thick ring of mulch around the base of the trunk but not touching. Bare root trees are tough as long as the roots stay moist.
