Just had this brainstorm last night. I'm not sure how I'll do this but my initial thought is to offer a free consult (up to 4 hrs time) to the first person to send me an email on Earth Day. I'd post it on my website and Facebook page....and maybe here as well, if that sort of thing was allowed.

It would have to be for those people local to me. Another thought is offering two free consults ....or one free and the second one half-price for those in which I'd have to drive further to.

Anyone have ideas they'd like to share?

Any other Permaculturists who offer consultations want to do this too? The business exposure aside, I think it would be a nice way to promote Permaculture and share with local communities.

You could produce some sort of reply slip with something like:

--------------------------------------------------------------------
ONE ENTRY FOR A PRIZE DRAW ON EARTH DAY.
PRIZE: A FREE PERMACULTURE CONSULTATION WITH  XXXXX XXX

Please fill in the details below to be entered in the draw.
Name:
Address:
email:
tel:
Questions:  If you win this free Permaculture consultation, have you any particular issues would you like to address? Yes/No.  If Yes - Please give brief details.

Would you like to receive future offers relating Permaculture consultations? Yes/No
Only one entry per person.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Leaving appropriate spaces of course.  This way you have some leads to follow up later.

Well it's an idea.

Of course this one wouldn't be the "first email on the day" thing, but rather a pot luck draw.

Thanks. I like that idea.....a lot more than my first email idea. But I don't have the computer skills to set-up a drawing system.

You could decide that the 16th email (for example) into your in box gets it?  Just some way of ensuring that it is fair?

Maybe declare the number so that folk can make their own "judgement" as to when the 16th is likely to come up.....  The trouble with first email in -is that no-one will reply later in the day because they will assume the prize has gone.

perhaps you can get everyone together, to go to a chosen site that is prepared now, or one that you can show them how to improve? presumably would take the same amount of your time, youd get more exposure to both yourself and these concepts.... I will be doing something like this here locally in a year or two.... although legally I guess Im not allowed to call it perma culture...

Thanks, Salkeela for the additional thoughts.

John.....thanks for the random number generator. That may be the ticket this time for me.

Silverseeds.....I like your idea too. It's a very good one. However, I would feel like I was teaching a class rather than helping someone out with their particular site. I'll definitely keep this idea for future reference though.
