Retrofit yurt to cob home?

Hi! Has anyone tried to this or know the best way to go about doing this.
Have an yurt in New Mexico, I would like to use structure to turn into a cob, or wattle and daub style build.
Thoughts? Suggestions?

Anything like cob needs to be well protected from damp with a good water resistant base and considerable roof overhangs. You would need to extend your yurt roof or make the new cob walls beneath it significantly smaller in diameter. I have a feeling you would be better off passing the yurt on to someone who wants it and using the proceeds to acquire new roof materials.

If you are in a desert-like part of New Mexico, you might be able to use the yurt roof with minimal overhang.

Was actually thinking about a new roof system for the  exact reason you mentioned. I guess I just thought that using the yurtas a skeleton for something like wattle and daub might work.

If you can extend the yurt roof to make an overhang, I expect the lattice wall structure would work for wattle and daub. I'd be hesitant to try it in a humid climate, but not in a dry climate.

I think it's a great idea.

Make a yurt.  Live in the yurt.  Make certain your home is in just the right place.  Create a foundation for it.  Use the frame as a support for wattle and daub, build a new roof for it.  

Use leftover parts to build a new yurt to be a second room.

I have seen this done in California.  A cob builder by the name of Bonnie (sorry, don't know her last name) lives in a cobverted yurt structure near Los Olivos.   I think they cobbed right over the lattice structure and then built a new roof over it.  There were some other rooms built on to it and the roof  covered everything.  I don't know much details about it, but I do know it is possible.
